After the End Fan Fork Dev Diary 48 - South America History and Release Date
Good tidings, all!
Well, we've delayed this long enough. It's time to talk about the revamped history and lore of South America. Before we start, I need to profusely thank Atimo3 for almost singlehandedly writing all of this. Seriously, if you plan to thank me in the comments, do not. Please thank Atimo3 instead.
South American History - The Caudillo's Children
Let's start by taking a look at the new political map.
Looks pretty similar at first...
Although the political setupitself has changed relatively little, the history of this area has changed immensely. Let's start at the beginning with the history of the Patria Grande religious head title, La Patria Grande.
The history of La Patria Grande.
As you can see, the history begins relatively early on, with a legendary caudillo known as Jorge Gaitan, who lived in the pre-Event age. However, due to the scarcity of accurate records, some believe that he and Jorge Gaitero, who is said to have lived after the Event, are the same person. Others speculate that Jorge Gaitero deliberately chose his name to honor Jorge Gaitan. It is impossible to tell at this point. The first caudillo who we have accurate records of, Sebastian Lopez, was crucified and killed less than a year into his reign by the pagan Quechua conqueror, Ollantay Purikuq. Ollantay and his descendants went on to be the undisputed ruler of southern Colombia for a century, with his grandson even crowning himself King of Cundiboyaca.
King Ollantay, the third ruler of House Purikuq.
The tyrannical reign of House Purikuq was put to an end by the great conqueror Zacarias Alvarado.
Emperor Zacarias Alvarado.
Zacarias was born in Cartagena and reunited the kingdom of El Caribe early in his life. A number of exiled Andean lords asked for his help in liberating their homeland. He not only succeeded, but was universally proclaimed to be the new Caudillo of La Patria Grande. His reign in Cundiboyaca led to the forced conversion of the Quechua people to the faith of Patria Grande, although some disagree whether this campaign was overseen by Zacarias personally. Nevertheless, by the time his conquest was complete, many believed that Zacarias was the prophesied second Libertador, destined to reunite all of Gran Colombia under Patria Grande rule. Zacarias used this prophecy to justify further conquests, including the conquest of Puente Grande from the followers of the Falling Star.
Unfortunately, Zacarias was unable to fulfill the prophecy. His conquest of Venezuela ended in defeat and disgrace, and he was burned at the stake by King Santiago Leones. His empire disintegrated on his death, and was split among his three children.
His first son, Zacarias II, continued as the king of Cundiboyaca and caudillo of La Patria Grande. He planned to continue his father's conquests with a campaign in the Llanos, but was promptly captured and executed by Cabecilla Arturo of Meta. His son, Zacarias III, was considered by many to be a worthy successor to his grandfather, but he died under suspicious circumstances shortly after he was crowned king. This left his ten year old son, Zacarias IV, on the throne, and the kingdom promptly disintegrated. Zacarias IV was forced to renounce his title as King, but retains his title of Caudillo. He now rules over the county of Bogota as a tributary of the warlord Pablo Vicario.
Zacarias IV.
The branch that ruled in El Caribe, led by Zacarias I's second son Patricio, was somehow even less successful than the Cundiboyaca branch. Almost immediately after being crowned, his realm was split in half after a Wayuu general known as Saturno Epiayu successfully declared himself King of Zulia. His successor, Patricio II, was universally reviled and executed by a local noble named Jose Arcadio Buendia, ushering in the Macondo Republic in the northwest.
Jose Aracadio of Macondo.
The lands south of this were seized by a warlord named Juvenal Urbino. Patricio II had no legitimate heirs - his bastard child Florentino rules a mere two counties as a vassal of Juvenal Urbino.
Florentino, son of Patricio.
Finally, the branch in Puente Grande was arguably the most successful of all. Zacarias's daughter Bendicion managed to conquer a large section of the Pacific coast, and all of her descendants were regarded as wise and noble rulers. Unfortunately, King Zacarias III died unexpectedly, and was succeeded by a close advisor of his named Miguel Bose. Some claim that Miguel and Zacarias were actually lovers, and that Zacarias's death was related to an argument between the two, but repeating such rumors tends to result in one's own mysterious death.
Miguel Bose.
Zacarias's younger sister, Bendicion, still rules the fiefdom granted to her in their parents' will. She is, by far, the most powerful surviving heir of the Alvarado family.
Duchess Bendicion of Alvarado.
And that concludes the history of the Alvarado family. However, we're only one quarter of the way through...
South American History - Colombia
The lands of Antioquia have a history of their own, which does not intersect with the Alvarado family. Instead, the region was united as a republic under the rule of Jorge Issacs. Although he claimed to follow the Patria Grande faith, some claim that he secretly adhered to a different faith...
Lord Director Jorge Issacs.
Unfortunately, the republican system collapsed almost immediately after Jorge's death. His son, Salomon, ruled over a substantially smaller realm as a feudal duke. His own successor, Maria, lost even this duchy to the warlord Atanasio Girardot. In the south, Maria's cousin Efrain is the tribal lord of Cauca. Maria and Efrain are very close, and Efrain would surely support any attempt by Maria to reclaim what is rightfully hers...
Incidentally, the Republic of Macondo is home to a diverse array of patricians aside from the Buendia family. From west to east, they are:
  • House Heredia, of the Brethren faith
  • House Arroyo, of the Santeria faith
  • House Barca, of the Patria Grande faith
  • House Abdala, of the Traditionalist faith
This diverse array of patricians makes the Republic of Macondo a very interesting place, where alliances shift constantly. Make sure you keep track of who's in charge...
South American History - Venezuela
Saturno Epiayu's realm in Zulia was incredibly stable by the standards of the region - his daughter Oneida, granddaughter Oneida II, great-granddaughter Oneida III, and great-great-granddaughter Oneida IV were each the undisputed queens of Zulia.
Queen Oneida IV of Zulia.
However, the rulers of Zulia steadily became less and less competent over time. This came to a head when Zulia was invaded by Jean-Baptiste Sylvain, a zombified Haitian from the north. Although Jean-Baptiste died before he could seize any land, his three sons completed their father's conquest and, collectively, took almost half of Zulia for themselves.
Jean-Baptiste's oldest son, Jean-Claude.
Oneida IV no longer rules over the Wayuu homeland, and the Lozada family is said by many to be the true power behind the Zulian crown via Oneida's husband Wifredo. Only time will tell if the Epiayu family will re-assert their rule over Zulia and Guajira...
Meanwhile, the kingdom of Venezuela in the East has been wracked by religious strife. Transfers of power between families are nothing new in the realm due to its elective succession law, but the Tres Potencias faith was always dominant... until the reign of Antonio Cardenalde. He earned the entire kingdom's enmity after declaring his allegiance to La Patria Grande. He was swiftly deposed and replaced with Ariel Leones, the first Leones ruler to hold the throne since the days of Santiago. Some say she was elected specifically because of her ancestor's noble defense of Venezuela from Zacarias I.
Queen Ariel Leones.
Antonio Cardenale continues to rule his family's lands in Lara, and is still determined to make Venezuela fall under the sway of La Patria Grande...
Duke Antonio Cardenale.
The lands of Monagas and Sucre to the east always had a degree of autonomy, and used the recent political chaos to break away entirely.
South American History - The Orinoco Delta
The Llanos have always been a wild and fractious land, but never more so than now. Vicente Bolivarana accomplished the rare feat of uniting the entire Llanos under a single banner, and used his newfound strength to conquer the mountainous land of Bolivar to the east.
King Vicente Bolivarana.
Unfortunately, when he died in 2618, his only son Vicente was a mere infant. The Llanos, unwilling to accept rule by a child, broke away and descended back into chaos. When Vicente II came of age, he refused to adopt the Tres Potencias faith of his vassals, instead choosing to follow the Aria de Machete. This antagonized the local lords, and he was eventually deposed in favor of his 16 year old daughter Simoneta, who adhered to the Tres Potencias faith.
Queen Simoneta Bolivarana.
Vicente II now rules a mere two counties on the fringes of Bolivar.
Meanwhile, the Llanos have coalesced under the rule of 3 major clans. The first is house Cova, the legendary defenders of the Llanos. The current ruler, Arturo II, lacks legitimate heirs, which may pose a problem for his family upon his death.
Gran Cabecilla Arturo II of Meta.
The lands of Portuguesa in the north are led by the aging Evaristo Luzardo.
Gran Cabecilla Evaristo of Portuguesa.
Finally, the lands of Apure are ruled by Barbara Gallegos.
Gran Cabecilla Barbara of Apure.
South American History - Gran Nicoya
Before we wrap this up, let's head back up north to the lands of Gran Nicoya. House Sarmiento once ruled both Gran Nicoya and Puente Grande in the name of the Falling Star. Although Puente Grande was robbed from them by the false Libertador, they have continued to rule Gran Nicoya uninterrupted. The recent upheaval to the south offers House Sarmiento a unique opportunity. Will they reclaim what was once theirs in the name of the sacred angel?
King Ruben Sarmiento of Gran Nicoya
This concludes the historical overview of South America. Thanks once again to Atimo3 - without him, South America would still be the flavorless wasteland it was prior to v1.1.
Release Date
Yes, we are ready to announce a release date. We plan to release v1.1 on July 4th, 2020. Hopefully, many of you will have the opportunity to play v1.1 the day it comes out.
Minor Changes
As always, we have a lot of minor changes to go through:
  • Chapin culture renamed to Centrano. https://i.imgur.com/11ZwozL.jpg
  • New counties added throughout the Great Plains by BoneLorde. Notably, Chicago has been split in half - the area north of the Chicago River is the County of Chicago, the county to the south of the river is the County of Calumet, and the duchy has been renamed to Cook. The County of Calumet has Motowner culture, but this may be changed depending on community feedback.
  • Yet more flags have been changed.
  • West Coast colonizers have been changed - colonizations will now end permanently once the colonizing forces are driven from the continent.
  • Kingdom of Cote-Nord expanded to include the Duchy of Saguenay and renamed to the Kingdom of Saguenay.
Finally, please consider donating to the family of George Floyd, who was unjustly killed by four police officers in Minneapolis on May 25th.

Our front three was solid although I prefer if Messi trusts Griezmann more.
De Jong - Man...this guy has a gas tank attached to his back. He played almost every position from back to forward and was all over the pitch!
MOTM: Griezmann - his work rate is immense and after De Jong this is another guy you‘ll see running all over the pitch.
Overall our game was good. Enjoyed the way we play. Big Sam is back. Away game win. Clean sheet and Top of the table!!!

I just want to say one thing:
Those who say that Griezmann will be the next Coutinho don’t understand why Griezmann is good and why Coutinho never worked out.
Even when Griezmann isn’t on his best day he still contributes by tracking back and being one of the hardest workers on the team. His link up play is getting there and I promise you LW Griezmann won’t be as bad as everyone thinks it is.
Loved today’s game and hopefully we keep on getting better.

Today we have seen what Suarez is able to do when not playing twice a week, his two best league performances were as a sub against Valencia and today after the international break. I really hope Valverde realize that and don’t start him week after week..
Griezmann has been incredible today, everywhere on the pitch and looking every time to combine definitely the MOTM for me
Damn Arthur and Frenkie are bossing our midfield and only getting better (Arthur has had few off passes tho)
Big Sam is back!!!

Barca is in good form and best thing is, I think it’s not peak Barca in the season yet. 5 consecutive wins, 3 consecutive clean sheets in the league.
We have the best goalkeeper, midfielder and forward in the world. Defence was really solid today, Lenglet and Semedo has improved so much in the past season and they’ve really cemented their positions. I loved how comfortable the team is on the ball and was using the ref as a passing lane. I loved the FDJ/Messi, Messi/Suarez, FDJ/Arthur, Grizzy/Alba connections. I loved that FDJ and Arthur were rested because they are going to be so important this season. I hope they continue this great run.
Really excited for the midweek Champions League Match now

First time we’re seeing Messi, Suárez and Griezmann linking up this well as a trident, it’s not MSN (and Suárez now isn’t at his prime like he was then) but it’s as close as we can get to it.
And a convincing away win to boot (the one against Getafe was scrappy), this could be a turning point for the season.
That said, not a fan of afternoon kick off times and never will be, would rather prefer it being our final afternoon match of the season but unfortunately that isn’t going to be the case.

Great game to come back from the international break. Really just a whole lot of positives, we could have easily scored more goals and we didn’t concede any real big chance.
It was exactly what I’m expecting from Griezmann, even from a left winger position. Just intelligent combining, position shifting at time to create confusion in their defense, a great work rate and good finishing. I surely hope to see a lot more of that this season, especially that exquisite pass before the third goal.
Want to emphasize as well how great Lenglet has been lately. Impeccable defense for the whole game, especially that moment when he switched to the right after Semedo and Umtiti got passed. Great pass for the first goal too and a lot of good diagonal passes to relieve tension. A little mention for Umtiti too who did a great job on his return game, hope he stays fit and finds his former level.
And a shoutout as well to Semedo who did a great job coming into the second half, he adds a lot more threat than before, extremely comfortable on the ball and very efficient building up from the back. If he can keep playing like that regularly and keep giving some of the offensive sparks we have seen from him at times this season, it will be a huge step toward starting to make up Alves departure in what has certainly been one of our weakest position in the past years.
Anyway, very happy about the win, now let’s replicate that in CL on Wednesday.
PS : love the new post match thread format btw thanks !

MSG in full flow. 1 Goal and 2 Assists for Griezmann while having an amazing work rate as well. Suarez was brilliant and it's good to see the trio finally combining. Like I said , Griezmann as LF would start working once Alba gets back in the lineup.
At this current form , De Jong is arguably the 2nd best Midfielder itw. That 2nd goal had MSG combination but De Jong really made it.
Arthur looked a bit tired in the 2nd half and Busquets was quite careless as well in the 2nd half.
Props to EV for his Tactics , I really thought we would struggle against this high press but we exploited their high line quite well while also not conceding many chances. Eibar didn't have many clear cut chances , they were just splashing crosses and Umtit was brilliant in clearing them. 0 shots on target for Eibar.
Difficult to pick motm b/w Griezmann , Umtiti and De Jong.

Really good things to see here, some concerns remain of course.
The first half was a bit rough other than the goal. We came out swinging, but the high press did bother us, and a number of sloppy passes led to turnovers that fortunately Eibar was unable to generate into great chances (shout-out to umtiti’s brilliant positioning). Another team could hurt us after those sorts of giveaways. Not sure what the problem was, partially just focus maybe. It changed a lot after the half, which could have to do with tactical shifts (anyone notice obvious strategy change?), good motivation, or perhaps increased width and movement with Semedo coming on for Sergi. Some of the giveaways were just bad passes, some were misunderstandings between players, and 1 or 2 were from the passer not able to find an open man. A lot of additions to the squad today with Alba and umtiti back, and everyone newly together after the break, so maybe that’s the reason it took them awhile to find a groove.
Arthur was a little below his usual recent gold standard, Busquets was mostly invisible and misplaced a lot of passes, particularly in he second half, and one that could have been a goal (that cruyff turn at the end was delightful though - made me squeal a bit)
Our buildup was wonderfully quick and fluid at times. A lot of one-touches and triangles- wonderful to see. Quick and decisive advancement, great off-ball movement from our whole attack.
De Jong was everywhere, playing DM at times and covering Busquets, recovering the ball at times, often advancing the ball through the middle and on the wings and overall dominating possession. He almost got on the end of a Messi pass in the area, made some wonderful through balls - including the pass to Suarez that he mishandled but then smartly left to griez who elegantly laid it off to Leo, who...
...nutmegged the damn defender and straight into the far corner. Brilliant. Nobody can just pass it into goal the way he can.
Alba had some good moments, but overall a little rusty.
Semedo was excellent when he came on, winning the ball, progressing upfield, much-needed pace and flair on the flank.
Lenglet’s just the man.
Overall our defensive center looked the most solid it has all season, though Eibar isn’t going to be the team to really test that. I hope we get to see umtiti and lenglet together more, as pique needs rest to perform his best anyway.
And our front three are really starting to click, though obviously still getting used to one another. They seem to really appreciate playing alongside each other. Feels like msn were youthful exuberance and pure brilliance, and this is a more wizened mature trio, crafty and intelligent.
And ter stegen... didn’t have to do hardly anything. Wonderful! Though, he did play some good long balls, and came off his line once to end any trouble.
We pressed well- our shape is very fluid at the moment, griez drops deep both to press and build-up. In general, defensive shape was 4-4-2.
Offensive shape was even more fluid, 4-2-1-3 to 4-1-2-3 to 3-4-3 — as it should be. With one traditional striker and two forwards who don’t really fit any mold, and midfielders in Arthur and de jong that are threatening and capable in attack, this fluidity of changing sides and level of advancement is one of our best attributes - opponents don’t know who to mark. Really good to see. With Semedo looking stronger in attack, and Jordi back, I really like our shape. It’s interesting. Maybe explore that more later.
For Eibar, Orellana had some good moments, particularly a great run through our defensive set-up late in the game. The most threatening they got was an ground cross from the left that nobody got on the end of, and that shot sent over the post. And the cross that Alba barely got in front of. Mostly they crossed and inshallah and didn’t bother us much. But their midfield was tenacious, especially when fresh. Hounding our players, great tackles, interceptions. A few excellent passing combinations. Mostly solid back line. We only had 4 shots on goal, so weren’t able to open them up much, and a lot of that was how much trouble they gave us in the middle of the pitch. But their high line was their undoing for both the griez and Suarez goals. We did well to bypass their midfield and progress more on the flanks.
Enjoyable game, a lot to like and plenty to learn. Main negative takeaways are Busquets was pretty woeful, and we lacked focus in the first half. Not an abundance of chances created, disorganized in the midfield at times.
Edit for spelling

Racing Club Strasbourg Alsace

Premier League Transfers - Summer 2017

Greetings /soccer! I had some time tonight and had not come across a decent summer transfer round up on here. With all the hype going on this window, many transfers have been eclipsed by larger, record breaking signings and rumours. So I thought I would put some time into summarizing the transfer window thus far in the Premier League. Originally, I intended to try and tackle all the major leagues but decided to do this one properly instead (And I am sure there are fellow users who are more familiar with other leagues to take it on).
I have been focusing on official transfers and have sourced these directly from Transfermarkt (Hence the values being evaluated in Euros). Please feel free to comment ammendments with Correction! in your comment and I will try my best to update. Regardless, I hope to keep this up-to-date on a weekly basis to account for transfers that go unnoticed.
Hope this provides a useful perspective on this year's summer window and helps show how teams are evolving over the summer.
Cheers!

Questions Answers
Any insight as to why Côte De Pablo left NCIS? At the time I was astonished when Cote left, but in retrospect, it seems that she was not up to handling the demands that the character put upon her. I still don't understand her deeper motives.
What has been your favorite moment ncis so far? After auditioning for both Paramount and CBS the call from my agent telling me that I got the part of "Ducky" is my favorite moment. Since then, there have been hundreds!
What are you reading right now? What's your favorite book? I am currently reading an English translation of the Koran. I don't have favorites in anything, but books by Richard Feynman are a delight.
Is it possible to get a sign copy of your book? I will be at Barnes and Noble in Los Angeles on January 21st signing books! Otherwise you can go to my Facebook page for a signed book plate.
What was your inspiration or reasons for writing a novel? It was an exercise in teaching myself how to write. I never intended for it to be published. What has happened of late is a surprising pleasure.
Who would it be a dream come true to work with, and who influenced you to start acting? No one influenced me in the beginning. There are several actors and actresses that would be a pleasure with whom to work but they must remain anonymous!
What drew you to the role of a U.S. Navy medical examiner, of all things? I was asked to play Ducky. I auditioned for Paramount and CBS and I got the part! I think Don Bellisario had something to do with all of this!
Hello! Have you ever kept anything from the set or a certain episode? Do you have a favorite episode? Thank you for your time. I love Ducky! Occasionally, On set they have a lot of old books from the prop hiring company. I have to admit I have upon occasion found one that was fascinating.
What is is your faith and how large a role does it play in your life? A strict sense of values and respect for others, and the determination to do the best I can for family, friends and acquaintances.
What did you have for breakfast? A cup of decaf tea, a slice of toast and marmalade, and a glass of milk to take my morning pills.
Do you ever work with practicing medical examiners to keep up Ducky's skills? What kind of feedback have you gotten from the profession regarding your portrayal? I have stood beside pathologists as they performed the autopsy so that I could learn the job first hand. The human body is miraculous.
Greetings from Germany, Mr McCallum, big fan of NCIS for over 10 years now. Have you ever been to Germany and if so, where? How did you like it? I have been to many places in Germany. My brother Iain McCallum was the British Council Representative to West Germany.
As an aspiring British actor, you're one of my idols to watch on TV every week. You have such a strong character, and even manage to make waffling on both funny and fascinating. What has been your biggest struggle as an actor so far? As in, what scene was the trickiest for you to perform? I learned early on that any dialogue that involves convoluted medical jargon, demands that I know exactly what I am talking about. This can usually be found in Stedman's medical dictionary.
What did you think of The Man from UNCLE remake? Good workman like, Guy Ritchie movie in no way mirrored what Robert, Leo and I did in the 60s.
Hello, David. So excited to read your book! Would you consider doing a book tour? I believe the publisher's have plans in the future, but I have nothing planned at the moment.
Can you tell us about your experiences working on the UK show Cluedo please? All I remember is an old country house, but where and when I have no recollection!
When will you be doing a book signing in New York? I would love to see New York and you! I have no plans right now but maybe we will run into each other in the streets sometime.
What do you think of "The Next Episode," the Dr. Dre song that samples your recording of "The Edge?" David Axelrod wrote "The Edge" which was one of the tracks on my album which he produced.
You watch Breaking Bad? I like sushi, do you like sushi? No, I do not watch Breaking Bad.
Do you ever intend on releasing more music? That would be nice but is totally impractical.
1)Do you in your own life have as many stories to tell as Ducky has in the show? 2)Do you and Brian Dietzen (Jimmy for those who dont know) have the same good relationship on the Set as you do in the show? I just love your synergy! I get on extremely well with Brian and I have traveled extensively. I am sure I could come up with a story or two.
There rain in Los Angeles?!?!?!?!?! I live in Los Angeles, but currently home in Texas over break. Okay. Question for you: What was the best story you told to a corpse? I have no favorites! I think they have all been pretty good. We have great writers.
What has been your favorite place youve traveled to this far? Have you ever been to Hamburg, Germany (my hometown) ? I don't have favorites. I did a movie in Hamburg called "Hauser's Memory". We ate every night at a restaurant by the Opera House called La Grotta Azzura.
Are you King of the British? No. I am a hard working commoner.
Any memories from VR.5? It seemed like a show a bit ahead of its time. Many good memories. I was sorry that it was short lived.
So tell us a little bit about your book? Not possible! You have to read it!
Have you seen the movie "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." yet? Were you ever asked for your input on how the Illya Kuryakin character should be played? I have seen the movie. They never contacted me at any time.
Would you say you live by any of Gibbs' rules in real life? I have my own rules, thank you very much!
Favourite NCIS episode? I don't have favorites.
Hi David. Do you have any plans to come to the UK this year? Not in the immediate future, thank you.
Has Mark Harmon ever played a practical joke on you?. Since I have heard he is a major jokster. Mark Harmon knows I am not the type to be toyed with.
Have you witnessed any of his shenanigans around the set? What shenanigans?
What is your favorite kind of lotion? I don't have favorites!
What part have you always wanted to be cast as? No, I've done them all!
Dogs or cats? Cats!
Did McGee help you out at all, Ducky? ;) Jokes aside, I'm very excited to read the book! What was your favorite part of the writing process? I have no favorites. It was all a pleasure.
Did you ever do any martial arts or combat training for U.N.C.L.E. (or other roles)? Your research in Stedman's sounds like fun, did you do any research for the novel? Yes to both your questions. I do a lot of research.
Are Ducky's anecdotes entirely scripted or do you get any creative license when he goes off on one of his stories? Or even disappointed when you get cut off mid flow? I know I certainly do... Entirely scripted although I embellished the Scottish stories.
Do you have any stories from the making of Dogs? No.
Hello Ducky! I just started watching NCIS because my Girlfriend would always have it on. I am now a fan! Question: Who messes up the most when filming? Also is Gibbs really that badass in real life? Everyone has an occasional lapse but we forgive them!
Hi David, I'm Karen. Do you have any memories of working with Gloria Stavers from 16 Magazine? No, I'm afraid I don't.
That's ok, you've met a million people since then! She took some great photos of you for 16. Have a wonderful day David. You too!
